Current UW Seattle Campus Students

If you're a current student at the UW in Seattle, you need to apply to the HIHIM major only.

Application Deadlines

The application deadline for early acceptance is February 15 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The application deadline for general acceptance is May 15 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Applications must be submitted by the deadline to be considered for that application period. 

Minimum Admission Requirements

  • Completed a minimum of 90 quarter credits by May 15 of the year you plan to apply
  • Earned a grade of 2.0 or higher in each prerequisite course
  • Applicants with the following scores will receive points during review:
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in all college-level courses
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in all prerequisite courses

Prerequisite Courses

Applicants to the HIHIM major must complete prerequisite courses in two subjects:

Students with prerequisites in progress may still apply, but students with completed prerequisites will have priority consideration. 

HIHIM Technology Requirements

Students in the HIMIM program are required to have a basic knowledge of computers and standard productivity software, information retrieval skills and electronic communication skills. See our HIHIM Technology & Computer Proficiency Requirements to learn more. 

Before You Apply

Step One: Attend an Information Session

We recommend students interested in the Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics & Information Management (HIHIM) program attend an information session. Visit the Information Session page to sign up for a session. 

Step Two: Submit Your Unofficial Transcript(s) for Review

We recommend you have an adviser review your unofficial transcripts so you know which requirements you've completed prior to applying to the program. Email hihim@uw.edu a PDF of your unofficial transcript from all institutions you've attended in the past with “Transcript Review” as the subject. An adviser will review your credits and respond with a preliminary evaluation.

How to Apply

To apply to the HIHIM program, you must submit:

  • HIHIM online application 
  • One unofficial transcript from every college or university attended
  • Statement of purpose (instructions in the HIHIM application)
  • Resume that highlights your relevant work or volunteer experience
